Wouldn’t it be nice to have long arms?

I mean like r-e-a-l-l-y, REALLY long arms…..So long that you could reach across WHOLE states to hug a sister or a friend whenever you get the gumption.

I have one thing to say, “Go-Go Gadget Perky Arms!!!!!!” ;)

I love y’all!

Twas a little on the chilly side (somewhere around 50-60 degrees) earlier today as I headed out for a walk down our street with the goal of getting some pictures. The rice fields down the road have been flooded (as part of the growing process) and they look so nice! Here’s a glimpse of what you might see along our little road. The landscape is a tad on the flat side here – ok, so the biggest hill is the overpass over Interstate 10. BUT – if you take the time to look around, you can find beauty right at your doorstep. Oh, and maybe a touch of South Louisiana culture. :)

…Some not-quite flooded fields :)

…A crawfishin’ boat just settin’ there. And – no – there isn’t a man in it. That’s just pants and gloves hanging there :)

…The tan house in the background is our home! Home is such a lovely place! :) It’s crawfish traps in the foreground. And don’t be tricked into thinking that that’s a hill in the middle. Tis just a levee – which I don’t think counts :P

I had wanted to get picture of the egrets that wade in the water looking for dinner, but they weren’t really around the first time I went out. So, I made another attempt a little later. I wanted to get in closer, so walked down the levee a bit, but I must’ve been detected and off they went :)

Y’all are precious to me!

“A friend is someone who knows the song in your heart and sings it back to you when you have forgotten how it goes.”

Melanie: God is not looking for extraordinary people – He’s looking for ordinary people who will trust an extraordinary God…

Sarah: Thanks, Mellie-Malloo…For singing the song…My notes are a little flat tonight. So I am grateful.

Melanie: It doesn’t say, “make a choral melody” It says…”make a joyful noise.” To God…even our croaks are a rainbow of harmonies. Especially if they are weak hearts endeavoring to know God’s strength…

When we are weak…HE is STRONG…His mercies being NEW every morning… is what makes tomorrow different. Even when we do face our same failures…His faithfulness is greater than that.

Take Heart, Fair Maiden!!! Thy Heavenly Prince eternally knoweth thy every prayer…and will fulfill HIS perfect plan…in HIS perfect way…creating HIS perfection IN YOU…in HIS perfect time!

Sarah: Lord…I thank You for a friend that sings…And I thank You for my weaknesses…That they keep me coming back to You… :)

Me

Today was a perfect day for a change of scenery…With the temperature in the low 70’s and the sun sparking through the partly cloudy sky, I headed out to CC’s [a Louisiana coffee spot] to work in the sunshine. It was so nice to feel the sunshine on my face without the chills that come with a cold breeze. And the strawberry smoothie was a perfect accent. :)

Last year at Children’s Institutes, we reintroduced the “Gift for God” craft. This was a simple little craft – only a small gift box, a bow, a tag, and strips of paper inside. Simple – yet the lesson it taught is deep. The children were encouraged to write on pieces of paper those things [rights] that they needed to yield to the Lord. As they yielded those to the Lord, the little strips could be put into the gift boxes and then given to the Lord in prayer.

Everything that I have and am is a gift from God. The greatest gift the Father has given was the life of His Son. Having been created for His glory, I am created to be HIS. The greatest joys and truest peace of life will come not through hanging on to my life, but through yielding it to the Father. Then I find myself right where I was created to be.

Well, this Sarah Perkins has given her life to the Lord. I am His own.

To me, one of the profound aspects of this craft is that the lid on the gift box is never sealed. Whenever you discover another something that needs to be yielded to the Lord, there the box is – ready to be opened, ready to add another “right.” Interesting thing about me though is that my box would contain not just one paper that says “life” or “desires” or any number of other things. My box would contain certain identical papers a thousand times – as over and over I come back to the Lord and say, “Father, here I am again. Here is my life. Here are my desires. Here is ‘me’.”

Amazingly, Father never slams shut the lid to that box and says, “No more!!” He only receives. And then receives again. And then blesses. He is so patient with me.

Regardless of all that is in my heart and head, my greatest desire is to be WHOLLY His. To be so satisfied in Christ that the pleasures of this world and of my flesh, have no power to attract or distract. He is working that in me. And as hard as it may be at times, I pray that He keeps working [I know He will]. It is good.

Psalm 103:1 says, “Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless His holy name.”

Emotions…Bless the Lord

Heart…Bless the Lord

Desires…Bless the Lord

Actions…Bless the Lord

Mind…Bless the Lord

ALL that is within me.

and….. I am home again. :) Here’s me and my lovely sis. Moving is hard work :P
