The Day the World Stopped Turning . . .

WHAT are you seeing??? Yes, you’ve got it… PERKY is at MY house!!! (this is Mel…)

There I was, minding my own business—and instant messaging Perky. I was really bummed that my weekend was full, because I really felt like giving a certain Louisiana girl a HUGE hug! Perky said she could come see ME…but we just didn’t see how it was going to work. She is working on curriculum, and I’m working on school—how could we take time off to visit? NOT to mention that our parents would have to agree to the whole crazy-brainy idea!! We sadly pushed it out of our minds, and went back to our regularly scheduled activities.

SUDDENLY…Perky IMs me and casually says, “I just mentioned coming over to your house, and my dad was totally OK with it!! I can come and we can both work on our projects and spend our evenings visitng!” At that moment, the world stopped turning. Less than 20 hours later, a certain Louisiana girl was standing on Texas soil gasping for breath after I gave her the HUGE hug that I’d been saving up. This moment, Sarah is writing curriculum and I’m writing this post. Dad is downstairs fixing the kitchen sink, so he told mom to get pizza!!

Do you ever mentally “recede” from the world and take a look around you with a fresh perspective? (Kind of like looking at your life through virtual reality—as an outsider peeking in…) I do, and every time I am blown away by the goodness of our God. The fact that Sarah is at MY house is a gift beyond expression, a special reminder of God’s love for ME!!

Here are some pictures from yesterday’s rendezvous in the park for exercise with my favorite Swirly!!

Dear, sweet, wonderful, dear [did I say that already?], Mel…… Yes, coming here was like a great, too-good-to-be-true-but-it-is gift from the heart of God. I am overwhelmed by His love and goodness. You know – to stop and think – it IS pretty amazing that I am sitting here just 8 ft away from you! Father has the best surprises, doesn’t He????? Loved the walk with you, Beth, and EW! Fun stuff!!!!! Beautiful day!!! Precious people!!!! Beth, anytime you want to run through a sprinkler together at Meyer Park, just call me – I’m there for ya! ;-)

Dad and Mr. Bogner ~ You guys both tie for “Father of the Year” awards. I know you love your gals – thanks for this treat!!!!!!!!! :)

BTW – I have said before that I think Texas is a vortex that sucks all the nice people into it. Fortunately, I know enough WONDERFUL DEAR people around the world to know that that isn’t the case. But, whoa, today….Texas is sure a nice place to be. :)
